Sycamore Day Use Parking OPEN(Umstead State Park)The recently renovated Sycamore Day Use Parking Area (Bike and Bridle Trailhead) is now open to the public. Parking is available for horses, bicycles, and pedestrians. The new parking area accommodates a greater number of vehicles, provides separate horse trailer and car parking, and conveniently connects to the multi-use trail system.  /  The temporary horse and bicycle parking at Camp Crabtree is now closed. All visitors should park in the new parking area. Please contact the park for any additional information.


Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve
Please note: The Preserve will not be open to campers and day parkers during the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show. Spectators are, however, welcome to attend. Check their EVENTS CALENDAR for dates that you will be able to camp:

The Blue Ridge Mountain Views from the back of your horse will make memories to last a lifetime. The whole facility is first rate - YOU and YOUR horse deserve it.  Enjoy 6 natural obstacles, knowledgeable, consistent and friendly judging, deluxe hot homecooking and plenty of it and first class ribbons, trophies and prizes.  Breakfast & lunch is FREE FOR ALL ACTHA RIDERS.

Trail Ride Weekend Rates (Friday 8 am until Sunday 4 pm)—$45 per person admission, includes: Hook ups (water and electric) and lot, Use of bathhouses,
Two nights of Supper & Dancing.

Children ages 9 to 15—$15; Children age 8 & under are FREE.
Stall Rental (8x9, shavings included)—$8 per night.

Cabin Rental—$60 per night (in addition to admission fee). (Minimum 2-night rental of cabins on trail ride weekends.) Cabins include two double beds, bathroom with shower, microwave, refrigerator & television. Picnic tables & grills are located adjacent to each cabin.


Vendors are always welcome! Vendor fee is $25 (in addition to admission fee)  (*$10 guest fee for non-camping visitors visiting all camp sites)


Huckleberry Ridge
Starting January 6, 2012, we will be open 7 days a week for trail riding. The cost will be $10 per rider and $10 per night for primitive camping via the honor system. Sign in and pay at the tractor shelter. Maps will be available under the shelter. Some areas will be closed due to quail hunting, SIGNS will be up.
